The IOT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC) is just around the corner (Barcelona, 29-31 October 2019). And we can’t pass on the opportunity to recommend you some sessions.
We could mention the latest groundbreaking gadgets. We could encourage you to visit our Testbed area and discover Blockchain solutions to prevent natural disasters, safety implications in connected transportation or real-time car telemetry analytics to measure driving behavior. That’s right, for the moment, you still cannot use your mobile phone while driving.
We could recommend you take some of our deep diving technology workshops on the fundamentals of AI and Digital Transformation, and also participate in our Awards ceremony to discover the most disruptive IoT applications.
And we certainly do. The program of the IOTSCW19 has been carefully curated to offer you the latest and most useful content related to the IoT ecosystem to grow your business. But this would be just another way to describe our agenda.
So, instead, we’ve come up with five questions we think you’ll get answered from 29-31 October at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via.
Why health is all we need?
The number of adopters of the Internet of Things (IoT) in healthcare is growing steadily. In fact, according to Business Insider, healthcare IoT devices, will reach 646 million in 2020. What’s more, spending on this sector could hit $1.6 trillion (high estimate) by 2025.
Yet healthcare is about people. When technology advancement takes the front seat, often the human-focus becomes secondary and blurs. This can lead to ultimately resulting in resistance to adopt the technology. How to overcome this challenge? At IoTSWC19, we think that we should focus on putting the human at the center of solutions.
How will we move from A to B in 2040?
Connected vehicle platforms, advanced traffic analysis and private and indoor mapping are already prominent in the IoT ecosystem. Intelligent connected vehicles are an increasingly tangible reality which involves not only the car industry but also the rail, ship, and aviation sectors. Now, we do know that tailor-made IoT solutions can help accelerate productivity while monetizing services. But how will we move from A to B in a few years? And what will happen with data? Joseph Barkai, Industry Analyst and Consultant, will analyze, together with different experts, how to set up data management systems to collect, index, and tag the data to aid analysis and support AI workloads in connected vehicles.
Why diversity and inclusion matter to your bottom line?
It’s true. There is still a gender gap in technology, but things are starting to change as women’s contributions to STEM are numerous and quite amazing. At IOTSWC19, we want to address with inspirational women leaders why it is crucial to attract and support women leadership in Industrial IoT, what it means to navigate the executive ladder and what are the goals for the future. Because the Internet of Things is also written in feminine.
What are the tools we need to fight climate emergency?
Speculation on the value of Blockchain is still rife, as it is an immature technology. However, the World Economic Forum has suggested that 10% of global GDP will be stored on blockchain by 2027. So, beyond the hype, distributed ledger technologies are getting increasingly important to major industries.
At IOTSWC19, we want to debate on the use of the Blockchain technology to solve the climate emergency. Too ambitious? We accept the challenge. Is it possible to find sustainable solutions to allow corporations and individuals to offset their emissions? Also, how can Artificial Intelligence help in this fight against climate change?
And… Finally, what will the world look like in 10 years?
Eventually, a vision for the future. Is the implementation of IoT products sufficiently dynamic and forward-looking to drive performance upwards? What will happen when intelligent machines and disruptive products track our every move, create, and expose societal biases, eliminate jobs, and, maybe, one day, develop a will of their own and go rogue? Joseph Barkai will offer a perspective of the future and explain what AI and machine learning technologies can or cannot achieve. Food for thought.
In this scenario, we might end wondering who we are, what we have and what we know, but we’ll try to provide some answers in this sense too. In the end, IOTSWC19 aims at talking about the Internet of Humans and discussing why people matter in IoT transformations. Because what’s really important in life is beyond algorithms.
Enjoy the congress!
